Localism Merch started with a simple observation from someone who calls La Jolla home: local businesses either don't have merch, or have merch that isn't selling — and no one running their own business has the time to fix it.
Our founder spent years around La Jolla's coffee shops, surf shops, boutiques, and restaurants — and kept hearing the same thing from owners: "We've always wanted branded hats or shirts, we just never have the time to figure it out."
Between running the day-to-day, managing staff, and just keeping the lights on, sourcing a merch vendor, approving designs, and managing a production run falls to the bottom of the list — every time. Meanwhile, bigger chains with marketing teams keep building brand presence around town.
So Localism Merch was built to be that missing afternoon — we do the work, business owners just say yes.
La Jolla's beaches are part of what makes this community special — and part of why it's a great place to run a small business. We want to help protect that. As Localism Merch grows into new communities, giving back grows with it — always shaped by what each community cares about most.
We're building a program to direct a portion of proceeds from every order toward beach conservation efforts here in La Jolla — the exact form that takes is still being decided. As we expand to new communities, this grows with us too — each one gets a giving-back focus shaped by what that community cares about, not a one-size-fits-all cause.
Tell us about your business and how we can help — it takes less than five minutes.
